Vesuvio
The Porsche 911 (993) Vesuvio Edition is an exceptionally rare factory variant produced in very limited numbers during the final years of air-cooled 911 production. Based on the Carrera 2 and Carrera 4 platforms, the Vesuvio Edition is distinguished by its exclusive Vesuvio Metallic (L40W) paintwork, a specially formulated grey-violet hue unavailable on standard 993 models, and complemented by matching aero mirrors, painted air intake grilles. The interior specification was equally bespoke, with two-tone leather, deviated stitching, and color-matched accents designed to showcase Porsche Exclusives capabilities. Mechanically, it retained the robust 3.6-liter M64 flat-six engine and G50 six-speed gearbox, while benefitting from the later Varioram induction system, giving improved midrange torque and a more linear power delivery. As a market-specific special (not officially offered in all territories), the Vesuvio Editions rarity and unique specification make it one of the most collectible and technically interesting iterations of the 993 generation, cementing its place in Porsche history as a transitional model between purist air-cooled engineering and the modern bespoke era of Porsche Exclusive.
