F series

RS

Viper Green

Production totalled 1,580 of the Porsche 1973 911 Carrera RS which was made up of 4 different models. 200 were the “Lightweight” M471 model, 1,308 were the “Touring” M472 model, 55 were the RSR “Racing” model and 17 were the RSH “Homologation” model.

The Carrera RS on display at ArtNeun 3 is one of 79 Viper Green Carrera RS’s produced in June 1973 and was in the later batches RS’s produced which had many later production run upgrades. Production ceased on July 10, 1973. Some of these upgrades included shorter rear axle control arms to improve handing, 300kph speedo and reinforced plastic fuel tank.

This RS was delivered into West Germany and was optioned with Sunroof, retractable antenna with loudspeaker and retractable seatbelts for both front seats. In terms of its ownership history it made its way to Japan and has been off the road for around 30 years. The miles per the speedo are xxxxx and the car was never raced and in fact many nuts and bolts are original and never been removed. This RS is a truly “time warp” 911 Carrera RS and has been restored where needed along with a full respray.

The 1973 Carrera RS in its day was one of the fastest cars in the world with a 0-60mph time of 5.6 seconds. Certainly putting to shame many V8’s in the same era.
